About

Marcus has been training in home gyms since 2010, when he assembled his first power rack in a one-car garage in Phoenix. A mechanical engineer by training, he started writing detailed reviews of garage gym equipment on Reddit's r/homegym in 2014, where his torque measurements and load testing made him a community staple.

He competes raw in the 220-lb class, with a 545 lb squat, 365 lb bench, and 600 lb deadlift. He has personally tested every power rack featured on GarageGymBuilders, including stress testing them with loaded sleds, kipping pull-ups, and dropped weights.

Marcus owns six different power racks across two locations and has assembled or disassembled more than 40 racks in the past decade. When he's not lifting or writing, he's usually fabricating something out of metal in his shop.
